{The Ordinary Moments 2017 #2} Back to school for Mum!

Last Thursday night I had to set my alarm for the first time in 6 weeks… it was devastating! 😲

However I really cannot complain; I love my job. πŸ–€

I work as a Teaching Assistant in a lovely little primary school which is 5 minutes down the road from where I live. I finish at 1.15 every day so get to spend the afternoon walking Josie and playing with Jessie. I am one lucky mummy.

I can’t believe that this time 2 years ago I was just starting my first teaching job and this time a year ago I was preparing to go back to work, teaching full time, with a 6 month old baby.

My stress levels were through the roof!

I really do admire anyone who manages to go back full time after having a baby – especially in such a demanding profession such as teaching. I also know how lucky we are that it is possible for me to work part time.

I took a break from teaching in January this year, and although I do miss having my own class and planning my own lessons (oh and the money πŸ™„), I don’t miss not spending quality time with my family, planning and marking until midnight and getting up at 5am all whilst feeling like I’m failing in both jobs as a Mum and a teacher. πŸ‘ŽπŸ»

I do hope, and plan, to return teaching one day however at this point in my life I feel this is the best option for our family.

Here’s some selfies me and Jessie took one afternoon this week πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

  1. My best friend is a teacher and went back four days a week after her first and three days a week after her second – but it’s so demanding. It takes up evenings and weekends and it’s one job you just can’t switch off from when you walk out the door. I completely understand you taking a step back and I hope your return to work went well x
