We visited The Flower Bowl for Jessie’s 3rd Birthday – advertised as ‘Lancashire’s newest and most unusual leisure venue’ – it didn’t disappoint! There is bowling, crazy golf, a cinema, a golf simulator, curling, a bar area with table football, a cafe and also a restaurant. We tried out the bowling, crazy golf and had a lovely meal in the restaurant – oh and a hot chocolate in the cafe!
The Flower Bowl is located opposite Barton Grange Garden Centre on the main A6 between Preston and Garstang and there’s plenty of parking spaces, which I must note were a decent size!
When you first walk inside it feels almost magical, full of trees and flowers lit by fairy lights.
Jessie requested I take a photo of her in front of the flower bed!
First stop for us was bowling. You can book in advance online but we took our chances as it was during the day on a Monday and wasn’t school holidays. We were also lucky that they were running a half price offer that day which made it very reasonably priced!
At the time of writing this blog post it costs £8 per adult, £6 per child and £7 for senior citizens for each game and you can have a maximum of 6 players per lane.
We were asked for our shoe sizes and the bowling shoes were brought over to us on a trolley, which I thought was a nice touch!
I was also impressed that the bumpers could be programmed for individual players, so every time it was Jessie’s turn they were automatically raised for her. I should perhaps have asked for bumpers too – it’s been years since I’ve been bowling and I was a bit rubbish! It was all good fun though!
They also had a few of these ramp things available so it meant Jessie could push her ball without much help (sorry I don’t know what they are actually called!)
After all the excitement of bowling we’d built up quite an appetite so we went for a meal in the Blooms restaurant. It is beautifully decorated with big feature flower walls, however they were filming and taking photos for promotional purposes so I didn’t manage to get any photos myself!
The food was delicious and the service was quick. I was also impressed with the children’s menu (pictured above).
Quick family selfie whilst waiting for our food!
So after our food we went to play crazy golf in the ‘Secret Garden’. Although it is totally undercover, it is like you are outside so make sure you are dressed appropriately as we got a little bit cold!
It is beautifully set up with lots of exciting features round every corner.
Jessie totally didn’t understand the concept of the game but loved hitting the ball and thoroughly enjoyed herself – she even managed to get two hole in one’s!
The crazy gold course is open daily from 10am to 10pm and costs £9.50 for adults and £8 for children with a maximum of 5 players per group, but make sure you check their website for up to date information!
So if you’re looking for something to keep the kids entertained that you can also join in with then The Flower Bowl is definitely a great idea! It would also be a perfect place to spend a rainy day.
I want to try out the cinema next time as they have sofas and foot rests so you can really relax!
