The farm gates are back open at Mrs Dowson’s ! With 350 acres of land and hundreds of animals there’s lots to keep you entertained!
Open weekends, school & bank holidays from 10.30am to 5pm and admission is just £4.95 per person (under 2’s go free). You can also purchase a family ticket online in advance only for £18.95 for 4 people.
As you can see there’s lots of talks and activities going on throughout the whole day!
We arrived just in time for the farmer talk where we met some pigs, water buffalo, the cows and even got to bottle feed a baby calf!
Then we had a bit of spare time to explore the farm and play on the park. Me and Matt got a hot chocolate from the cafe to warm up as it was a bit chilly!
Next up it was time to feed the lambs! They were so cute! Even though it was quite busy and there were lots of children wanting a go, the staff were really good and made sure everyone got a fair chance.
Then Jessie’s favourite part of the day was holding the chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs! Again the staff were so good and made sure everyone got a chance with all the animals.
We finished off our visit with scones and ice cream…. which by the way is so delicious! It’s worth a visit to the farm just for the ice cream! Made with local ingredients and plenty of different flavours to choose from, Mrs Dowson’s is one of the largest independent quality ice cream manufacturers in the North West.
Now the weather is getting warmer, I’d definitely recommend a visit to Mrs Dowson’s as a lovely family day out…we had so much fun!
If you’re planning on visiting this Easter, they have a special Easter Adventure event taking place from 19th to 22nd April, 11am to 3pm with lots of fun activities including a hunt for Easter eggs and an Egg and Spoon Challenge! Tickets for this cost £7.95.
As always thanks for reading, and don’t forget to follow me for family days out in Lancashire!
